About Us

PODERE IL CASALE

Located on the hilltop of the renowned Sienese countryside, the Podere offers a breathtaking view of the village of Pienza, the medieval village of Monticchiello, Mount Amiata and the Val d’Orcia.
Podere Il Casale is often referred to as a model farm in the Pienza area. Thanks to its extraordinary location, it offers spectacular sunsets and natural landscapes of infinite beauty.
The original farmhouse of Podere Il Casale dates back to more than three hundred years ago.
For over twenty years now the farmhouse has been managed in line with organic regulations.
The farmhouse, the stables and the surrounding land are home to several animals: sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, cats and dogs. There are also beehives to produce honeyas well as olive groves, a beautiful vegetable garden and woods.
The farm is fully self-sufficient and the people who work here would need a forty-eight-hour day to do everything that needs to be done for the farm to function: hand milking, harvesting, threshing, pruning, fruit picking, cooking, cleaning, and much, much more.
The dishes on the restaurant’s menu are made with 100% organic products from our farm. We also have a line of products branded “Podere Il Casale”, which are on sale in our Farmhouse shop.
Our sheep and goat cheeses, which have been repeatedly awarded, are also on sale at the Podere. They are the pride of our farm. We also sell wine, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, pasta, stone-ground flours, balsamic vinegar, and honey.
All dairy products have for years been produced with the milk from our animals. The dairy farm is located within the estate.
If you’re a guest at Podere Il Casale, you will have the opportunity to stay in the campsite of the farm, becoming yourself part of the “sustainable universe” of Podere Il Casale.
