Welcome to Podere il Casale! This little gem can be reached from Montepulciano, Pienza and Bagno Vignoni, combining a wonderful bike tour with the wonders of Val d’Orcia. We are talking about three of the most iconic villages of the Val d’Orcia, but we assure you that your final destination will leave you astonished. Podere il Casale is in a stunning location, located on a hill where you can dominate the whole valley. At sunset, the view is fantastic, with some peacocks that roam free around the patio.

The first route does not present a great difficulty level. We propose a dirt route of less than 30 minutes. To immerse yourself in the colors of the typical countryside, start from Pienza, a medieval village of exquisite beauty. First of all, enjoy a walk in the course full of craft shops. Then, venture through the picturesque alleys which gives you a breathtaking view of the valley below. Here in Pienza you can rent a bike or an e-bike with pedal assistance for your route from Cicloposse and E-bike Tuscany. Cross the historic center, enjoy the view from the ancient city walls and you will be ready to take the SC Pienza Monticchiello road, which will lead you to Podere il Casale.

From the thermal oasis of Bagno Vignoni, famous for the characteristic rectangular pool around in the center of the small village, take advantage of Ciclofficine del Teatro Povero di Monticchiello for the rental of a bike or an e-bike. Start by crossing the narrow streets and streams of thermal water that flow naturally.

From Parco dei Mulini, take the SR 2, then turn in direction of the SP53 and continue along the hills. About 1 km before the Spedaletto Castle, take the dirt road on the left. Finally take the SP del Monte Amiata (SP 18), and continue on the SP 88 until you arrive at your destination.

From the homeland of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano to the Casale the route is easy, in less than 40 minutes you will be at your destination. However, the departure requires a visit to Montepulciano, for sure. Montepulciano is a Renaissance village full of wine bars, restaurants and with an elevated central square (Piazza Grande). From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana. Here you can use the services of Byebike and Urban Bikery for bike or e-bike rental. Cross the city enjoying the view of the church of San Biagio, surrounded by nature and take the SP146, that will lead you to your destination.
